Player Participation Player Participation Rule The player participation rule is as follows: Every player must play a whole quarter (from buzzer to buzzer) in a half and make an appearance in the other half. Examples of noncompliance of the participation rule: Player A plays all of the first quarter (buzzer to buzzer) then makes an appearance in the second quarter but doesn't play at all in the second half. Player A plays all but one minute of the first quarter then plays all but 30 seconds of the third quarter. Remember, every player must play a whole quarter (buzzer to buzzer) in the first or second half and make an appearance in the other half. Failure to comply with this rule will result in forfeiture of that game and suspension of coaching for the next game. If a player arrives late for a game while the game is still in the first quarter, the coach does not have to play the late player in the first half; however, the coach must play the late player a full quarter in the third or fourth quarter. If a player arrives after the start of the second quarter, the coach does not have to play the late player in the first half. However, the player must make an appearance in the second half of the game. Any team found to have used an ineligible player and/or coach in any game will forfeit the game.
